Before we leave Reno.

There was a lovely old stone church near the steps down to the river. I wondered if we could go in.

Such an odd juxtaposition of the old stone and the clearly eccleasiastical architecture in the foreground, and then the huge looming concrete and glass skyscraper behind the church. On three sides, in fact, not just behind the church. A small classroom or office wing stuck out toward the west, and there was an arched doorway facing the east and another facing the south, facing the river.

The door was locked. We were there on a Saturday afternoon, so I guess that’s not surprising. But it did seem ironic when we went up closer to see the sign and the lamp.

I don’t know anything about this church, obviously, but it did seem significant that it’s lamp wasn’t working.
